Fishing Report Dec 2018

Hello everyone

Well it’s here Xmas 2018 and finally a near perfect forecast for the week ahead so let’s get into it and the timing couldn’t be better offshore fishing in on the improve with plenty of Trag up to 3kg now coming in from most of our offshore reefs , Catherine Hill Bay down to Birdie Island and from Redhead up to Newcastle all producing good numbers of these great fighting fish and for the first time this season the coastal run of Bonito has started with the water temp just over 21dec.

There have been a few reports of Dolphin fish around the Swansea Fad although no real size at this time however we should start to see an improvement as we head into Jan /Feb , while further out on the Shelf off Swansea and Port Stephens both Striped and Blue Marlin have started to travel down the coast just in time for the Game season .Out on the Farm down to Texas there have been some reasonable size Kingfish and Mulloway caught along with a few Snapper .

Along the Blacksmiths stretch Whiting and school Jew are biting well on Beach or Tube worms however with the Full moon only a day ago it may be worth a late night session with a few Fresh Squid .
Back in Lake Macquarie the Flathead fishing has been outstanding with plenty of fish getting taken on both lures and bait , along with a few school Jew just to make it interesting while back on the sand Flats there will be plenty of Whiting during the next couple of weeks as we head into the next Lake Prawn Run which starts from the 30th December into the New Year great timing for everyone on Holidays and with all the rain we have had there should be plenty to go around .Of interest this week I have received a couple reports of solid Kingfish up to the 95cm being either lost or caught in the Lake , it may be worth down rigging a live Squid or two over the Xmas break there should be a few larger one around if your lucky .

Merry Xmas to everyone from the Team at Fishermans Warehouse Tackle World Marks Point
We will be back from 6.00 am Boxing Day

Regards
Jason Nunn
