October Fishing Report

Hi Everyone

The October Moon is now moving through and the first Prawn run off the season will start from Tuesday and run for around 9 nights , normally the size of prawn is larger than the other months but at this stage I am unsure with both air and sea temperatures well down it’s a hard one to pick , just get out there and have a go .

We are already seeing Bream and Flathead numbers build up however the Whiting may be a little late my tip is that towards the end of the prawn run we should see an increase on the sand flats . Mulloway continue to be caught around Pulbar Island early morning seems to be the best time lures are still working well while those fishing into the evening are also having success of either fresh or frozen squid . This week there have been lots of reports of Blue Swimmer crabs in the lake mixed in with the odd Mud crab the deeper water seems to be the better bet , however as December gets closer it may be worth a look along the shallower edges .

Offshore continues to be unpredictable with wind are sea’s keeping most anglers at home for those who have headed out its been time well spent with some very nice Snapper coming in from both in close and on the Farm with some Snapper up to 5kg getting landed both the cooler water ( 18.5 dec ) and down hill current have helped this situation while down south there are plenty of Kingfish to stretch your arms out on .

Out wide the cooler water has not helped the start to the Game season with it maxing out at only 20dec this cooler water is right the way up into QLD so at this stage only time will tell .

Regards

Jason
