Hello everyone
This week we saw the first Prawn run of the season as usual there were plenty of mixed reports depending where you were in Swansea channel , Patrick and his mate Justin Worley tried both Friday and Saturday night , with only around a Kg on Saturday night although according to Justin they must of caught 8 kg seems most must of went through the net , better luck next time boys . As a result of the run the channel and lake are loaded up with Whiting and Bream , but it seems the Whiting are still proving to be a little difficult to catch , I think it may be a result of the cold weather last week and looking ahead the warmer weather could be back to stay .
Steve Norris and myself fished last Saturday and had a cracker morning managing to land around 19 Flathead for the session , with a number of fish well over 65 cm as is the case all fish over 55 cm were released only keeping a few smaller ones for a feed . Dennis Walker fished around Marks Point yesterday and managed a couple of Bream and Whiting before been tangled up with a monster Salmon which was lost after a long fight and it seems there are plenty more of them about , most afternoons over the past few weeks they have been coming down the channel on the run in tide , even last Sunday there was a school busting up in Salts Bay on the beginning of the run out around midday so there still time to catch a few more . With the new moon rolling through once again there have been a few Mulloway caught mainly at night however there have also been a few around the 85 cm mark taken on lures , things are shaping up nicely for the next few weeks with squid numbers also starting to build up .
Offshore is still a little patchy however there have been good reports of Squire /Snapper coming in right along the coast in the 20 to 30 m depth range while out wide Garry Hoff and his daughter Catlin found themselves amongst a school of big Yellowfin Tuna with his daughter landing a 58.5 kg fish for her trouble , what a great effort for a Junior angler , seems the game season is off the a flyer with Makos and Tiger sharks already starting to show up , here we go .
Beaches are now starting to fish for Whiting and the odd Tailor while down on the rocks theres still plenty of Drummer and Trevally to be had .
I will keep you updated as more reports come in .
Regards
Jason
